Large pores? Small pores? How do you “shrink” your pores?

While you can’t technically change the size of your pores – thanks to genetics and your skin’s current cellular structure – however you can certainly improve the appearance of them.

Often times if your sebaceous glands are not working properly – producing too much sebum, or if too much dirt gets trapped in the gland, or the sebum hardens in the pore, it’s these impurities that make your pores look larger or more noticeable.

In these situations, we recommend a gentle chemical exfoliator to loosen the “glue” or hardened/sticky sebum from your pores. And while there are many alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) available to do the trick, many can be too harsh and cause irritation or even skin burns.

Lactic Acid is our AHA of choice. It’s the gentlest of the AHAs and is very effective at shedding dead skin cells and helping to unclog pores. It leaves skin looking bright, refreshed and renewed.

Perilla comes from the mint family and is also referred to as “wild basil” or in Korea it’s called “gaenip” and it’s a staple ingredient in many Korean dishes.

1 Liquid
Start with a liquid product. It’s much easier for your skin to absorb the active hydrating ingredients. Avoid using plain water, or products with water as its main ingredient. HYGGE MEETS JIMJILBANG

The Danes are spot on when it comes #hygge – creating a ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Especially, with this cold weather, who wouldn’t want to snuggle up in a cozy blanket, have a warm cup of tea, light a candle, relax with a face mask and meditate?

We’re embracing this ritual and applying the #jimjilbang concept of the different heated medicinal rooms at a Korean Spa to help you get through the last part of this chilly winter.

At the Korean Spa – after you’ve received your full body scrub and massage, you are bathed in milk and oil to keep your skin soft and silky, you head towards one of the special heated rooms that are lined with various stones or minerals to further strengthen and rejuvenate your body.

Some of the most common types of rooms include:
Jade – helps balance hormones and eases muscle tension
Amethyst – naturally emits infrared rays to relieve inflammation
Salt – purifies the respiratory system and improves the immune and circulatory system
Charcoal – detoxifies the body

Here, we’re cranking up the heater, and slathering on the Winter Body Oil – made with Organic Camellia, Jojoba and Safflower Oil. Next, we apply a little Body Oil to our face and use the Jade face roller to perk up the circulation and oxygen flow to our face. We then mix some of the Body Oil with some Activated Charcoal to make a detoxifying face mask. We light a Himalayan Salt Candle and use this Amethyst bracelet to do some simple meditation exercises.

GET SILKY SKIN AND DETOXIFY WITH DRY BRUSHING

We were inspired by this gorgeous hand-dyed organic hemp silk cloth, created by our work neighbor Piece X Piece and we wanted to share this tip for getting beautiful silky skin!

Incorporating dry brushing into your daily regimen is a great way to slough away dry, dead skin cells, stimulate the lymphatic system, remove toxins and increase circulation.

Here’s how to do it:

Just before you shower or take a bath, use a body brush and begin brushing. Start at your feet and use light upward strokes – toward your heart. With your arms, brush towards your chest. At your stomach, brush counter clock-wise. At you neck brush downwards toward your heart. Pay extra attention to some rough spots, like your elbows, knees and heels.

Right after you shower, while your skin is still slightly damp, apply the Autumn Body Oil all over. Wait a few seconds for your skin to absorb all the great Organic Oils including Organic Camellia Seed Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Safflower Oil and Vitamin E Oil.
